She said I smile too much, He said my smile was powerful and I was like ssshhhhhh...

"She said I smile too much, He said my smile is powerful and I was like sssshhhhhhhh " , Nana Ama unveiled in a frolic way; placing her finger on her lips (to depict silencing someone) but without hiding the smile that got everyone talking. Nana Ama is one damsel whose presence (smile) will instinctively either light up a place or get everyone talking. Yesss! Her smile will either infect everyone else or people will end up saying all kind of things because she appeared all smiley and vivacious. Like any other day, she arrived as an uninvited guest yesterday to give me an account of the day's ordeal. Her close friend Annie and the lover were arguing over her smiles and she had 'sssssh' both of them and excused herself. The argument started when Annie's lover complimented Nana Ama's smiles; he said so much that made Annie confess her hidden dislike for Nana Ama's smiles. Annie mentioned how Ama smiles as if all is well when all is not well and how it

Who Is A Damsel?

"Who is a damsel?" the now exceptionally beautiful damsel I've grown to address as my little sister asked with charm exhibiting itself through her smiles. Deelia is one shrewd girl I loved so much. I was a bit surprised when she asked me that question considering the fact that she is always disturbing her dictionary. "Is she kidding me? She don't know who a damsel is? Or she is just asking because of the title of my first book, Dear Damsel ?" I asked myself in thoughts as she looked on with an expectant expression. "According to the dictionary, a damsel is a young unmarried woman ", I replied her with a teasing smile. " Oh okay. You were the first person I heard that word from, that's why I decided to ask you. At least, now I know I am a damsel." She confessed. But the question is, does being an unmarried young woman make you a damsel? Well, its a yes according to language (dictionary) but in reality, being unmarried doesn't

Hurray! I'm Finally An Author!

I woke up today exhilarated by the fact that I'm now an author; every part of me was urging me to share the good news with you my amazing friends, family and readers. Unlike the previous days where I valued the essence of waiting for sometime, today, I valued the essence of letting you know that I am officially an author (remember in my post - My 2017 in 17 Sentences - I mentioned working on my relationship with you?). The journey of a writer is never an easy one but the transition from the position of a writer to the position of an author of a book is more difficult. I must admit it hasn't been easy but despite the roughness of the road, I have reached this new milestone. I  I did it; we made it! I am so much grateful to God for the wisdom He's given me to write this book. I am also grateful to you for all the love and support you've shown me till this very moment. Special thanks to Daniel Felix Ayibontey for designing my book cover, and to Dagna and Nadia Beatrice

Make A Soul Smile

It pays to make a soul smile, I tell you. Sometimes, the kind words we say, the little support we give, the love we share, the comfort we give, our effort to ease the pain others go through, our quest to make someone happy; goes a long way, a very long way to brighten up a life, save a soul or change lives in a way we never imagined. A friend, sibling, colleague or even a mere stranger, needs to smile everyday. Make it a priority to make at least a single soul smile each day. Any day Anytime Anywhere Make a soul smile It doesn't matter how Feed a tummy Ease a pain Say kind words Just do it anyway Brighten up a life ©Rachealwyettey

Life Doesn't Get Better!

As far as I can remember, there has never been a single instance in my life where there was a change in life; where life was better. As humans, we prefer listening to soothing lies in bad times than we prefer listening to and accepting the hard truth . But the truth of the matter is, whether we like or do not like the truth, it doesn't change its state, it remains the truth. The truth is that, life doesn't get better . Who ever said life gets better lied about that; it doesn't get better. It will never get better because life is life; life is while we are still breathing; it is our existence. Do you know what gets better? We get better! Things get better! Situations improve! Strength renews, spirit revives, soul refreshes, and the heart heals. We learn to love , trust and feel things differently. Bad days will arrive, but you'll certainly go through it and one day, you'd look back and realise it was worth coming this far. Don't give up! Things will get

Flashes Of Love

A sparkling star A blur cloud A cozy chair A blazing fire A hot black coffee A shivering body Cuddled in strong arms A promise of A lifetime love A reality that Its fulfillment is Only in flashbacks A reality that Your love is a memory Alive in my mind Not alive in real life ©rachealwyettey When the promise of a lifetime love becomes just a memory, what would you hold on to? A love that was never present, A love present in flashes only or A love that needs to be revived using the memories?

A Ride With Jesus

A ride with Jesus is the most beautiful and exciting ride you can ever have in a life time. Jesus is the only companion with real intentions and He makes the ride a memorable one with no strings attached; he expects absolutely nothing in return. While taking a ride with men, we come across so many problems, most of which men can't do anything about. They laugh at us, judge us, and whenever we start making progress, they seem to have a way of discouraging us. With each ride, they have a deadline and there is a cost to pay. But with Jesus, there is no room for condemnation or mockery. He doesn't check his time while with us; He have all the time in this world. Even when we give him thousand reasons to leave us, He doesn't leave us, he chases after us. He's got the ability to calm every storm that will arise throughout the journey and his most prioritized purpose is to make sure we arrive at our destiny; safe, sound and victoriously. Jesus Rocks! Jesus Loves! Jesus S

The Reason

For a long time I remained single Yet I was happy People wondered why I couldn't tell them why For I didn't know why I wondered why But I couldn't figure out why Then you arrived And solved the puzzle With your presence With your actions You told me why And I was super glad You were the reason I remained single ©Racheal Wyettey. They Can't

...Not A Can

Like a can You trashed My heart Into the dustbin And as if You've forgotten Dustbins are Emptied You're here Asking me To give you My heart An impossible Request it is Maybe Just maybe You might find The heart you trashed Inside the dustbin But for the moment Just know The heart of A woman Is not a can To be trashed ©rachealwyettey

The Closest Lady

Before I travelled She was the Closest Lady Oldest Lady And the one I Cherished most And when I returned She invited me for Supper Perhaps the last supper And after the meal She smiled richly Or a smirk it was Then she asked What life has taught me I raised my eye lashes As though it hurts And shifted my chin Up a little bit Making sure My two eye balls Stare directly into Her two eye balls And then Pressing my lips As though it costs A fortune to share Lessons learnt in grieve I vomited the venom She poured into My very being And then I said If there is one Just one lesson That life has taught me Its no other than Never to trust The very ones Close to me Those with cute lips Yet with sharper teeth Those with heavenly eyes But uses it to charm Those that have long hands But rather takes Instead of giving Those with honey tongue Tongue that sweetens not But attacks like bees Those that embraces fast Just to stab me Those that flaunt T

2018 Is Finally Here! Refire The Goals You Misfired

I'm glad we both arrived on this land known as 2018 and I specially welcome you. I know you've set entirely new dreams for this year and its my prayer that all of your dreams will become realities; every bit of them. However, I inspire you to refire the goals you misfired last year; you can't continue dreaming when we failed with living previous ones. Yes! Do well to ponder over the failed dreams, probe them further and figure out how best you can achieve them this time around. So while you focus on the new dreams, remember the old dreams you failed to achieve. Also, don't just dream, put on an extra effort to achieve them. I believe you will end this year with great celebration because of your achievements. You're blessed! Happy New Year!
